'Gay voices'
#11
I know what you mean when you talk about people saying 'he's very nice'! That euphemism is widely used from where I grew up in Northern Scotland!

You don't sound gay at all; and drinking is allowed on St Patrick's Day!

You don't sound feminine. I can't understand you but you sound like a man lol

No, your voice does not project as feminine at all. Believe me. I have had the vocal training to know.

If you are really that worried about how you sound, take some voice lessons with a good teacher with the goal of developing an effective speaking voice. Not singing lessons. Speaking lessons.

If I were to guess at your singing voice, I would imagine bass or baritone. There really is not any tenor quality in it and you are certainly not an alto which it is possible for a man to be.

Thanks for the reassurances. I really wasn't expecting these sort of responses. I never thought there was anything manly or deep about my voice. I just assume that there must be something fundamentally wrong with me on many different levels because people generally don't like me - I'm not being down on myself, I'm just stating a fact. It doesn't bother me too much, but I'm curious. Maybe I smell bad but sure it's kind of badass to smell bad so maybe that makes me cool. I often feel like my voice is repulsive but maybe it's not that bad. I still think there must have been something misleading in that clip I posted; something that made my voice sound more masculine than it really is.

No, not feminine, @himself... But voices of people who speak English might sound more high pitched than voices of people speaking other languages... Note, this is strange in fact, but kind of true... listen to Spanish males and their voices sound pretty high pitched, listen to Spanish females and they all sound quite low. Genetics?

You didn't sound like a girl to me, but if your voice changes like that, it's possible you would need to mimic/recreate the phenomena to get a clear and accurate response, yeah?

That said? The breathing exercises suggestion above is a good idea. Anything to ease your anxiety a bit will help your voice stay at it's more natural, lower octave.

Sometimes it also has to do with the language in question. Tonal languages, for example, use tone (rather than the word itself changing, the tone in which you speak the word changes) to distinguish tense and other grammatical differentials.

you have a deep voice, don't think it's girly, but well, if you somewhat high pitched your voice in front of boys, that's a different story.
my voice doesn't even near yours, mine's pretty high pitched, on the phone ppl ALWAYS mistaken me for a girl, calling me miss or ma'am even irl, I often let my hair grow long, thanks to my small built, ppl often mistake me as a woman, often mistaken as my friend's (boy) girlfriend, that makes both of us giggle when that happen tho

himself what do you mean people don't fundamentally like you? WHAT people? How do you know… or what makes you think that?

Whatever it is, no, its not the sound of your voice. Now it might be the brogue, like I said, I have no idea what you were talking about. But w/e…
