I bawl every time I see that last scene on the beach, and I really don't cry in movies.

Being gay is not for Sissies.

Torch Song Trilogy and Angels in America were the only two 'gay' movies that really moved me in any manner.
Broke Back mountain kinda sorta caused a bit of emotional drift there in a few scenes - but the other two really struck home with me and hit deep cords - Torch Song takes place in the mid 20th century and included some really harsh realities which I and my generation personally went through.
Angels in America dealt with HIV/AIDS when it was a sure death sentence, a thing that again my generation really relates too.
I don't watch gay movies - IDK, I watched a few after the Trilogy and Angels one, but they all were too campy, or too in your face with a 'cause' they were pushing. And many of them were just 'soft porn' which I feel sends the wrong message about that being 'gay' is.
As such, I feel that most of modern gay movies would just rub me the wrong way and lead me to anger, not tears of saddness or joy or anything remotely 'a common frame of reference' that endears Torch Song and Angels to me.

...my secret, guilty indulgence is reading m/m BDSM romantic fiction, and I also like mystery, suspense and paranormal m/m romantic fiction...and no, it doesn't make me bitter...it's just a mindless escape and I enjoy it...
