I often thought to myself (kiddingly) how do they get the animals to cross a fixed point; didn't know anybody took this seriously.

This is a huge problem where I live, to the point where we have some of these:



That is a bridge for the animals to cross the highway. There are 20' noise walls so they can only do so on the bridge.

Actually when this first came out and spread like a wild-fire because people love to make things 'viral', the woman did report that she had had enough of listening to stupid people saying stupid things on the radio (and other sources) and getting applause and attention for it. So she decided to make a phone call to a live radio show...

And she got a lot of attention for the Deer Crossing thing, but not nearly enough attention of her reasons for doing so. Which was kinda the point.

If I recall correctly, the whole argument she had was that people are making huge deals out of stupid stuff and spreading 'rumor' as truth. For instance having people post this Deer Crossing thing on Facebook and as far as I can tell nary a single person followed up on the Deer Crossing 'discussion'.

Now that took place nearly two years ago - the Radio Show. Yet here we have it as a relatively new post, with a hella lot of new comments on facebook as if its today's news.

What does this show us about humanity?

Your species doesn't actually follow the news - it follows that which is trending on social media. Further more, nary a single person appears to look up or listen to follow up reports on a thing.

Take the Egg Controversy of the last century. One day a 'study' came out that said that there were high levels of cholesterol in eggs. From that the media cobbled together the headline of 'Eggs: Going to kill us all!!!!!' - or words to that effect.

Here we are in the 21st century, and there have been three other studies done that demonstrated that the cholesterol in the lowly egg is tempered with other chemicals that turn 'bad' cholesterol into 'good' cholesterol - making the eating of eggs a good thing.

The Media focused hella attention on the 'eggs will kill us all' aspect, but barely mentioned the other studies. So today when I go to the super market I have to listen to an ill-informed idiot telling me eggs are bad for me.

And that was the whole point of calling a radio show out of the blue and ranting about how stupid it is to have deer crossing at the middle of roads and all of that other rather insane thoughts.

I'm certain that the lady is floored that so many didn't get the humor.

Of course I already know that humans are rather dull tools.... so I'm not surprised.

And I do know people who are this stupid.
