David's Poetry

"Poisonous Emotion"

Yeah, I know, I'm decidedly venomous, it's my one and only right to be,
I am embittered and I wish to no longer be associated with the male gender,
I am a weather vane to your talk of love and I refute it, I refuse it, I hate it.

Bitter stone, do you taste yourself in your mouth, do you swallow your tears,
I can make you bleed but I cannot seem to make you cry, to make you see,
I don't believe you anymore, nor your vows of celibacy, have you run dry?

Have you given all you had to give? All you needed to survive?

The dust is collecting at your feet, untouched, at least for a long, long time,
The wishes made upon stars that I myself imagined have finally faded away,
Your memories of me have succumbed to a nothingness not unlike myself...

Time stands so still, and no one comea knocking at your door, at your smile,
The windows have condensated into your broken heart, tears sprung from me,
As I danced the greatest dance to summon as much, but, no not with you...

The days have glozed themselves as numbers added to my delusional you,
The spaces of knowing and miles upon miles of written words that reach you,
My sight was scraped along with you, and, hang on, there's someone at the door...

Once you stood, resolute and proud, on that podium of words, that shame,
Released into the world by means of emotion and subsequent expression,
Like the moth to his flame you were sundered within the blinding incandescence...

You squandered your heart and the noise, oh, oh, the noise of the tears,
Spake they in the language of the heart, language itself without words,
Now you are uninspired by inspiration itself and the little things in him...

So captivated you were, captured by his blinding light and now what?
Now your voice is saturated by your still silent mouth and loud hands,
Speaking non-sensically and tumbling down, down into the abyss...

The warmth in your eyes has faded away into their depths,
Shh, the stillness of their brown is surrendering my memory,
They're looking at someone who is not me, I squandered you...

I cannot tell if I am seeing myself reflected in you, as you drive me this way,
Towards what you are and have become, and my world is chained to you,
Let me be Frank, let me be myself, I want you, but I also want freedom...

...Freedom from you?

The Frank I know would be very pleased with the last post.
