The missing dollar

3 friends, Rob, Matt and Tim rent a room in a hotel, They pay at the desk 30 (each 10) dollar for a 1 very cheap room. After a while the receptionist realizes that the room was even cheaper and that qthe guys have paid 30 instead of the25 it should be. The honest receptionist says to the roomcleaner to bring the boys the 5 dollars. The roomcleaner thinks 5 can't be divided by three so he keeps 2 dollars himself and gives the boys each 1 dollar.

So the boys have each paid 10 dollar mines 1 = 9 dollar. They paid 9 x 3 = 27 dollar in total.
The roomcleaner has 2 dollars.
27 form the boys + 2 from the roomcleaner = 29 dollar.

Where is the missing dollar .

@ the 25.00 rate..They paid 8.33 each.. plus 1 dollar refund from the 5.00 overpayment...which makes it 9.33 x 3 =27.99...and if the cleaner keeps 2.00...it would be 29.99..so the real question is...who has the missing penny? :biggrin:
