So you can't train a cat?

Of course you can train cats.

I have trained our cats to sing me the song of their people at 4:30am every day and rouse me from peaceful slumber to prove to them once again that God exists.

I remember being on vacation in Wyoming, at Devil's Tower. I was with a group of people who kept scattering about, and I remember saying to someone: "It's like trying to herd cats."

Within a half hour, a man walked by me with a cat on a leash. I smiled and he turned to me and said "see, you can herd cats."

LOL

What is about 4:30 am and cats? Mine do the same thing! First they wake up the dogs and get them psyched up then all of them come to the bedroom like it's Christmas morning and they want to open presents.

The only tricks they know are bringing small live wild animals in and letting them go in the house... ground squirrels mostly, small rabbits too. It's lots of fun walking up with some unknown animal on the bed every couple weeks.

O yeah.... they do kill snakes before they bring them in........ Whew.

Now that I have 2 Maine coon cats over 28 lbs each I started thinking about taking it up a notch and getting a Savannah Cat... a cross between a domestic house cat and an african Serval.......... then I found out a F1 hybrid (50% Serval/50% domestic cat) can't be had for less than $7,000.00.............. I'll wait until Walmart carries them.

I LURVE Savannah's. Even if you didn't have to sell both nuts to buy one, you'd have to make sure your state even allows them. More states are restricting the animals we can keep every year. Not only that, you'd have to have a very large area that was fenced off with wire link, resting on deeply dug cemented footings because Savannah's will dig,. It would also have to be tall because they can jump, and closed off with wire mesh at the top (I've heard of them climbing fencing and leaping over the top to freedom). You wouldn't want a cat that expensive and lovely running loose. Additionally it would be advantageous to have some kind of shallow, stand alone pool, cause those kitties like to play in the water.

Animal Planet: Savannah Cats

I'd say good taste Virge, but your head is already swelled up like a Thanksgiving day parade balloon! Laugh

Steve. I know they're legal here. There's a gazillionaire divorcee up here who has them... or I should say she brings them from where ever her winter home is when she comes up here every summer. Others up here have Savannahs but not the F1 hybrids which are the best marked and biggest.

Yeah I know about the hazards of having a Savannah, they can jump 10 feet, climb brick or wood house exteriors, dig tunnels, and get into any cabinet or door they want. BUT.... they are so totally friendly and playful. The bad part for me if I get one up here is that at least 7 months out of the year weather is going to pretty much turn them exclusively into inside cats. I think I'd build a Savannah its own gymnasium/play room attached to the house. hahahahahah
