An interesting piece of history. The 9th photo is a little strange. I don't think that even in these more enlightened age that you would see anything like that today.

There was a destroyer built in that way right across from my junior high school. Smack dab in the middle of Florida and on dry land about 65 miles from the ocean or gulf. May still be there for all I know. Training ship.

That's really interesting, and I never heard of that before. Beautiful shots of an interesting time period in NYC history in general.
