This is how I can be dangerous in the kitchen... Last night, after soaking my chick peas for the best part of the day, I decided to put them in the pressure cooker for a quick 20-minute cook. Then I came out to the computer to get on with stuff, and took the timer with me... It was clicking merrily along and time went by, when all of a sudden, I realised the times was no longer ticking and the chick peas were sending a suspicious smell of burning down this way. Ah, I ran to the kitchen and rescued my poor chick peas from oblivion in the nick of time. Actually, the bottom of the pan was burnt but not too badly and the chick peas, once rescued and rinsed under cold water were perfectly edible albeit with a slight taste of being smoked... Hahaha. Don't leave things to cook in the kitchen without taking a timer that works with you down the hall.... otherwise, it's asking for trouble. Wink

My pile of blackened egg poaching pans is a testament to that User

Last thing I ate was a bowl of Easy Mac. The last thing I drank was the Coke Light (Haji Coke) that's sitting next to me.

And now it's time for me to go to bed so I can wake up in the morning and eat powdered eggs!

Powdered eggs? That's something they had during the war... My mum said it wasn't very nice. Is it?

Depends on how well the cook's know how to fix it. If they do it right, it tastes just like the real thing. If they do it wrong, it's either mushy, or rubbery. The cooks on board don't know how to do it very well, unfortunately.

The Brit Army still has powdered eggs in its 10 man ration boxes, the cooks never know how to cook them and they come out like rubber........
