albabonzai Wrote:Yeh i read Combat and survival and they said dutch army was good, cant be sure till you try them tho. British individual ORP 24hr ones are ok, spec the new ones. i really enjoy them, its the big 10 man that the cook uses thats very bad. I love your US MRE tho, its cool to try summit diff, and the pound cake and milkshakes are awsome. Dint like the wild rice and stoaganough tho, tatsed like the cook had tipped a whole bottle of cloves or summit in the rice.

Can't believe you like the milkshakes they give me the wild and crazy shits. I do love the pound cake, but, they have a bunch of different flavors of pound cake now, the origonal is the best. It used to be called just pound cake, now it;s called vanilla pound cake. They also changed the crackers, the old crackers were just one type of really bland crackers, now they have 2 types, the origonal bland and the vegetable crackers, which are MUCH better. Still very dry though. They have a MUCH greater variety than they used to, and most of them are pretty good. There are some old MRE's that I miss, such as the old Beef Stew, and what we used to call the 4 fingers of Death, the actual name was Beef Frankfurters, and the old dark brown MRE Ham Slice.
My 3 favorites.

Hmm milk shakes didnt give me the sh**s..... but maybe its as it was me first time Tongue Our new ORP's have curry's and rice! AWSOME. But we used t laugh as they put a weapon in some of the ration packs, the Mark 1 Treacle toffee block, that could kill anyone at 200 yards!!

And the pate was so scary to eat as when you opened it it was white, but we are always assured its fine to eat!! lol, they changed to fresh tuna pouches Big Grin

We also have what they call LRP's rations (Long Range Patrol), they have more calories and more nutrient dense foods. They tend to be a lot better than standard MRE's and they usually have something nice like a comercial pack of tuna or shredded chicken in them which is awesome to get from a military ration.
