this is only good news.

I can't decide whether I think this is good news or not.

Sure it's ramping up the pressure on Putin. And the french would have to be completely spineless to complete this deal.

On the other hand it's a further confirmation that EU and Russia are now essentially informally enemies. It's a further escalation and that's unlikely to end well.

Still, for good or ill it was necessary.
