Northlad Wrote:i was told lesbians hated gay men

...didn't know that, but i did have a close friend in high school who turned out to be lesbian. i really didn't have any clue she was back then, she was so gentle, shy, intelligent and inquisitive. I really liked her. Then I recently found out she was lesbian via one of her FaceBook posts but I don't think she hates me at all! Smile

This just proves that when people throw words around and throw accusations and opinions with no base people can end up forming their opinions based on things like that. Im unsure were i heard it but lesbians have always been great with me lol

Sometimes anger is misplaced or misdirected. .
that is when innocent bystanders suffer..

I guess this is like any revolution. .
A few will suffer for the advancement of the masses..

Yep. Anger does not always lead to rational thinking. A couple of years ago, this woman got raped in Haiti. She blamed white people. She was white, herself. Due to her political ideology, the only thing she could do was blame white men. It must have been really difficult for her but I think her judgement was due to her political views rather than fact.

Funny thing...all of a sudden on pretty much every gay site now there is this manufactured war with feminists...I go to all of them...

Coincidentally.,..we have a female Presidential Candidate that the Republicans and the folks at Stormfront are desperately trying to discredit as a "feminist" (Gasp...oh the horrors)...and trying to pit gay people against feminists ...or religious people against gay people ...which is similar to the tactics employed politically by the people who used to pit light and dark skinned black people against each other...or field slaves against house slaves....

If you are going to let someone else control your mind or thought process...feel free.

I don't have to pretend I don't notice...

In all honesty I can't tell if the people trying to define feminism by it's most extreme and obnoxious elements (rather than by the majority) are sincere or just being trolls trying to get a rise out of people because they're bored (seriously, burning bras, from how many decades ago?). So with that in mind, beware the straw feminist that FOX and others of their ilk (and a few others) like to portray:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Ma...awFeminist

Note the "useful notes on feminism" you can link on, assuming that's not information overload for you.

In contrast, a feminist speaks at the United Nations to applause rather than jeers or feminist condemnation after, and speaks on some of the things I've seen posted on this thread:

She's not alone. Of course those who promote straw feminism (or find the most extreme kinds and misrepresent them as a majority with an intentional agenda to deceive the public) won't show these kinds.

Granted, feminists aren't part of a hive mind, and they can become the most outspoken critics of each other (for example, feminists who want to decriminalize or even legalize prostitution in order to combat the criminal and other deplorable elements vs. those who want to drive it even further underground, as a super simple example), but there is a baffling ignorance about feminism that remains pervasive, which is why I'm not sure if some of the outrageous things I've seen posted are sincere or not--they very well may be. A clear example is when a father hacked his little girl's Donkey Kong game so that the Princess saved Mario, to discover hatred (and an ignorance describing the 3-year-old as the feminist, showing they confuse it with gender rather than ethical philosophy or ideology--IF there was a feminist involved, then it was the father, assuming he did so for political and social reasons rather than out of a father's love for his little girl):

http://www.wired.com/2013/03/donkey-kong-pauline-hack/

That baffling hatred of feminine empowerment, even in the most innocent of fashions, is so prevalent that feminism is needed, even in the West.

Though I suppose Storm Front might be helping now, as they got all sorts of fronts to move their propaganda, and people are gullible, at least if they're prone to thinking that way anyway. It's like the fundies that believe we're demon possessed or even trying to turn everyone else gay, the propaganda is ridiculous to many, but to those who WANT to believe it, or who think along those lines anyway, they swallow it and then start spouting it when they think they can get away with it (which is usually online).
