Brussles in lockdown
#1
Just heard on the news that Brussles is in lockdown due to a suspected terrorist threat. The metro has been shut down, all public events cancelles, the Prime Minister has asked people to stay at home. The Belgians are obviously not taking any chances.

I'm a little surprised that no one has commented on this. Brussles is now on the second day of lockdown and the city's businesses must be losing millions. If that's the case, Islamic State is winning. It might not be killing people in Belgium but it is creating economic chaos. How many businesses can survive this?

I was just reading some news about this, and it seems like something is going on right now at a hotel in Brussels. Hopefully they are closing in on suspects.

LONDONER, i don't know about the others but i am simply on an information overload on this topic since attacks on Paris. there's heightened alert in Stockholm and there were some arrests there. Germans received a terror alert. then there was the Mali incident. then Paris intelligence found evidence that these guys involved in Paris attacks planned to create (or already created?) cells in Europe and to disseminate islamic material for recruitment, etc. how ultimately ISIS aims for globalization of islam... it is enough to make my stomach revolt. i am sick of it all.

i do think it is a good thing they're doing these raids now. not just Parisian authorities, but a lot of other states in Europe. this is something that should have been done a long time ago, and should, in fact, become a regular thing all things considering. so i am glad about that.

Today google news has been full of 16 arrests in Brussels, but not the Paris attack leader. Also that the alert there has been extended another day.

Not much chance of such bulletins subsiding. We are in for the long haul on this one.
I bid NO Trump!
