absurd.

this whole 'genderqueer' thing is utterly disgusting. this is a clear example of people taking it too far. while you're at it you might identify with Napoleon in the process as well, it doesn't make you Napoleon. the fact that you identify with neither gender or both, does not mean you are, in fact, neither or both, or some mysterious special third gender. there is no third gender. you either are male or a female whether you like it or not.

it's also not an occasion to start changing universal language to suit your specific personality. i refuse to accommodate such childish behavior.

Well I once dated a female to male trans-gendered person. He identified as a male and I respect that. I was totally fine with it. For me it is the search for the right person. Didn't work out beyond one date for some other major reason, nice person but definitely some dealbreakers.

At work, the next office down is a trans-gendered person, male to female. I knew her before the change, great person, very smart.

I say let people be who they want to be. Yeah it's kind of strange looking at someone who's 6 ft tall in a dress and has a baritone voice but to each their own. Yep I went through that phase where I thought it was weird and sometimes I still refer to her as he... or call her by her previous male name.

We're given one life and if someone is willing to put themselves through all that just to be happier, go for it. Not for me, even if I wanted it, too many risks, scaring, and not to mention all the social issues surrounding it.

i have no problem with transsexuals. they usually (i think) identify with a definite gender. this is about people who identify with neither or both. completely absurd.

I think the only people that might have an argument here are hermaphrodites ... However usually they take on some gender identity anyway...

In my opinion they can do as they please. I don't care if they identify as he, she or something in between. I don't know why anybody would and I don't understand it, but I don't have to understand it. I respect their need to identify as whatever and have no problem with them doing just that.

I was watching a video on YouTube of some young teen (who by the way talked like a lifeless zombie lacking any personality). He was talking about how he "realised" he was "non binary". He told the story of how his friend "came out" as non binary/gender queer and explained how you don't identify as male or female. And this teens response to his friends revelation was "omg that is so cool". So he started reading about it and claimed the label for himself.

In other words, it's a fad. "ooh thats cool and quirky and will make me unique! i want one!!"

That might be true for a lot of people, especially teens...but I do think there are some people that really struggle with gender identity.
