All has to do with lighting and knowing exactly how to set the camera up...and the camera sensor/ film make a big impact... like the Kodak Ektar 100 film produces very different results than say Fuji Film...so a lot of things have to come together.

Most of my shots, including the most recent ones, are not photoshop-ed some are basically straight from RAW for that matter. Usually when I do edit, most of the time it is done with Adobe Camera RAW to adjust a few things but I suppose that is pretty much the same thing. I'd love to get my hands on Lightroom but they just want too much money... So I use free stuff...

The Linux platform has a pretty good alternative to Lightroom called Darktable, works pretty well if you do like editing your photos. Unfortunately, runs strictly on Linux distros, so have to dedicate a computer to running Linux or dual boot or run it in a virtual machine... And should anyone be interested in playing with darktable and not tech savvy can ask me, I do this sort of stuff for a living and have been for nearly a decade.
