Irish sausages ........... Racism?
#1
Everyone seems to be in such a hurry to scream 'racism' these days.

A customer asked, "In what aisle could I find the Irish sausages?"

The assistant asks, "Are you Irish?"

The guy, clearly offended, says, "Yes I am, but let me ask you something...
If I had asked for Italian sausage, would you ask me if I was Italian?
Or if I had asked for German Bratwurst, would you ask me if I was German?
Or if I asked for a kosher hot dog would you ask me if I was Jewish?
Or if I had asked for a Taco, would you ask if I was Mexican?
Or if I asked for Polish sausage, would you ask if I was Polish?"

The assistant says, "No, I probably wouldn't."

The guy says, "Well then, just because I asked for Irish sausage, why did you ask me if I'm Irish?"

The assistant replied, "Because you're in B & Q."( UK DIY Store )

I am not sure that the Irish use the expression "bangers and mash," though I am sure that the British do. While I wold not call it racist, it does seem to insinuate some sort of sexual viewpoint to my American ear. That is probably just because I am weird. Perhaps jimcrackcorn can explain. He seems to understand these things.

We did by the way, have a hardware store here that had a sausage stand out front. The Italian sausage with onions and peppers was quite good.

I'm not sure I get the joke. Is it because of B&Q and BBQ and Irish people being fucking stupid (which they are) so they confuse the two because they're illiterate?

Yeah, Irish jokes are very similar to blonde jokes if you've heard jokes like that too, in these jokes the Irish and Blondes are dumb.

How unpleasant. And I don't quite see the fun in it either.

One of the most popular joke scenarios in the UK begins with "there was an Englishman, A Scotsman and an Irishman" usually in a pub.. depending on who is telling the joke, one nationality fairs well and the others rather poorly... In England the punchline is usually based around the Irishman being stupid, the Scotsman being mean and the Englishman being posh or a snob (but not the butt of the joke) whereas in Scotland and Ireland the English are of course the butt of the joke. Sometimes when a fourth person is needed a Welsh person is bought on.. but not often.

BTW when I buy sausages I buy richmonds

It's unfortunate that if a joke has to be explained it loses is humour.
