If they don't decide to do something about it soon, it might as well be scrapped. Anything you do with it, it should not be in the water, for once, that thing should be on a dry dock.
Will be interesting to follow up on the story.

I'd hate to be the one scraping off all that rust and presumably, lead based paint.
I wonder who's been paying out those $60,000 a month all these years?

I, too, am wondering why it's been kept sat in water all these years considering it's significant history. That restoration project is huge! The pictures are quite eerie and atmospheric, enjoyed seeing them.
And has anyone seen the douche in the comments section? Complaining it's not guarded well enough as he got in and caused some damage. Probably a troll, but if not, what a colossal idiot.

"His wife Vera claimed he took pictures of the ship to bed. Vera had a separate bedroom."
Those are fun details to include.
I found the photos to be both beautiful and creepy. And the article made a good point, that if it were a building or another type of structure it would be landmarked or in a museum. I wasn't aware that there wasn't some type of protection for ships. When you think about everything it takes to build a ship on that scale and to power it across oceans, they really are impressive and fascinating things.
It's been a while, but I seem to remember that there is a ship graveyard outside of philly. I know there's one on Staten Island too.
