Justice Scalia Deceased
#1
US Supreme Court Justice Scalia is dead of natural causes at age 79. This gives Obama the power to nominate his successor. Could be good for human rights.

While I make a point of never taking joy from the death of an individual, I think this will have largely positive implications as far as Supreme Court rulings go.

Ruth Ginsberg is probably struggling with this, I hear they were good friends.
My condolences for his friends and family.

The Executive should not have the power to nominate anyone, even if they're not doing the final choice.

Judiciary is supposed to be independent. That to me is not independence.

Oh well, lets bring out a good one then.

I hope Reagan saved him a seat next to him in hell.

I am glad he is dead.

Insert, the US Constitution specifies that the President nominates and the Senate confirms justices on the Supreme Court.

That gives the Executive and Legislative branches input into the process.

What will be fun is watching the Republicans try to block the confirmation.
I bid NO Trump!

Absolutely abhorrent, for a First World country anyway. For places like this I would find it expectable.

Ah, yes it's like watching UDI congressmen blocking anything that this socialist president of ours does. Indeed quite fun.

Same shit here. That needs to change. Judiciary is not truly independent, then!
