Merely seeking to add revenue in a reputable way, right? It makes sense for hotels to increase profits and if it is advertised above board the afternoon delighters can use the service with a smile. Here in the US there are hotels which rent for less than a day, though they do not have sterling reputations. Sounds like the ones in the article are trying to keep up appearances.

Cant help but hope they change the bed sheets a hell of a lot - ive watched CSI when they shine the blue light on hotel bed linen....way too many stains for my liking

It would be wonderful if there were. I've been stuck in airports waiting for an ongoing flight and something like the Japanese pod hotels would be a blessing. Just somewhere safe to rest and feshen up.
