The N took me a little longer than the first two. The first two my eyes were drawn to the right spot almost immediately.

Good question. Originally I had posted it in my usual Comic Sans font (as much as some people hate it) because it is a font that is very easy to read, especially for dyslecsics, but is seemed to me to make it too easy, like this:

So maaybe it isn't a viable scientific test.

Well it definitely tests one's ability to find differences in patterns which is important from a survival aspect... Since I don't know a whole lot on the subject did a tid bit of research and you could say it could pose as a valid test... However I would say a lot of other tests would be needed to get a clearer picture. I don't think there would a test one could take, say in my case I'm 29, that would determine whether or not I'm doomed to get the disease in 40 years, however, might indicate that either someone can't find differences in patterns or already has signs of Alzheimer's.
