Eco-Cooler: The Zero Electricity Air Cooler
#1
I confess that I do have air conditioning at my home in Spain but it is rarely used. My home is well insulated and I will only use it if the temperature goes above 42ºC.

This is useful for those living in very hot climates and is a cheap method of cooling down at very little cost. Ingenious.

That's an incredible idea, and so simple.

Can anyone explain the physics behind that to me?

i think...:

it is related to Joule-Thomson effect for real gases. It can be thought that the pressure outside is larger than inside and a bottle neck works like a valve. The air is released through the valve (the bottle neck) and the air expands to the room. JT-coefficient for air is larger than zero, so the temperature of the gas decrease.

i still believe that the real effect is the speed of the wind touching your skin and circulating the air inside the room rather than the wind causing a high pressure inside bottles and hence causing the temperature of the air to decrease... but who knows... not really my area so that i could explain the right reason.
