Brexit details
#1
Hello fellow GS members.
This whole deal about Brexit is something I think few people fully grasp and I personally would like to lay down what information I have and combine it others input. It seems everyone is completely polarized on the issue, either its the new English revolution or its England's suicide.

So from what I think I know (in a nut shell)
The EU's purpose to form was to increase the economical strength of multiple countries working together for mutual gain. The eroding middle class of England and a economy in general suffering has spurred a vote to leave the EU.
Of the countries in the Union, UK is definitely top three in economic power (possibly only challenged by Germany) and so the living standards being lowered is being blamed on countries that are needing bailouts such as Greece.

Media and many loud individuals who have monetary interest in the Union are in a state of panic because they are directly affected however the country as a whole has cut the bonds that are perceived to have been slowly draining its life blood away. The government of England is now solely owned by the people IE other countries no longer have a hand in decisions. Trade agreements will need to be re negotiated (there are people whos job this is) and loooots of paper work will be needed.

BESIDES the upset Scotland, Ireland etc it seems to me like its a temporary pain for a long term gain? I kinda view Scottland and Ireland like Texas, they get jumpy pretty quick but usually let cooler heads prevail. I think it will benefit the United Kingdom in the long term, with ought the burden of other countries governments and economic woes it should be easier to stand tall.

!NOTE! above is simply what I THINK I know, and may be completely wrong. Please post your detailed Ideals, if what I have is super wrong, correct me so I can learn something Tongue.
I personally am not worried, I have seen so many videos based on the UK's hardships that this economic fuss seems barely a blimp on the radar (thinking of times like the battle of Britain) meh, its in your blood to be tough Wink.

The EU turned its power of improving economic strength into overruling laws, this is not something that those who voted many years ago anticipated when the agreements were first made. People back then were misinformed as to what the whole agreement was meant to be, hence why so many of the older generations voted to leave.

Scotland may not like the result, but they had that chance to leave us with their own referendum knowing that this vote to leave the EU was on the cards for the UK. Nicola Sturgeon whilst really believing her own cause and campaigning much harder then most in the UK to has practically no voice in the rest of the UK because she wanted to leave our little union of which Scotland benefited from. I find her also to be highly hypocritical that she wanted independence but says that the whole UK shouldn't have that.

Like I said in the other thread, we have to respect the decision and move forward together.

From the contexts I've been hearing about Brexit, I would have assumed it was just a new type of viagra specifically targeted to the far right.

The UK is fucked - insofar as I'm concerned, we're looking at the end of the United Kingdom in its present form, as well as a possible collapse of the European Union while the London government goes right wing.

I've been attacked and harassed for voting remain. I've had relatives delete me for not sharing the same opinion as them etc. Whatever, this country is fucked and it's going to be the poor, the disabled and the most vulnerable in society who find out the hardway.

Well done Britain. You complete and utter idiot.

Stop the island i wanna get off!

As far as I'm concerned I'm not English anymore. How can I be when English society and culture seems hellbent on opposing everything I believe in.

It's not just this EU debacle. It's the general and local elections the betrayal of the lib dems the way the left wing has been cowed into submission on every topic.

Its like crashing wayes just steadily erroding everything I ever loved about England.

Other than on LGBT and women's rights. Were sliding backwards and we're even taking Scotland, wales and Northern Ireland down with us.

I've toyed with the idea of emmigrating. But now it's become a hard and fast idea I don't want to tie my future to this place. It might be my career next on the sacrifical altar because at some point the idiots are going to realise that leavging the EU hasn't affected immigration at all.

My family who voted Leave are angry that the Remain campaign didn't warn them about what would happen.

I've heard similar stories in the news here about this. People said they only voted leave as a protest and didn't expect it to actually happen, or that they didn't understand what leaving the EU would actually mean.

I don't get it. Like I don't get the logic behind voting for something you don't understand, haven't educated yourself about, or for something you don't actually want.

It's also terrifying to think about that as this country approaches our own important vote. I hope the Americans who think the idea of a president Trump would be entertaining in its absurdity are paying attention.
