On Friday we in the UK commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. There was a curious and very emotive "event" that had taken two years to prepare and in total secrecy. Quite suddenly groups of men dressed in WWII uniforms appeared in many places all over the UK. They didn't sday anything, just stood of sat silently and if someone approached, they were given a small white card on which was written the name, date of birth and death of death of a soldier who had perished on that fateful single day when twenty thousand young men had died. It was difficult not to cry.
