song critic thread?
#1
uhm .. i would have liked to create a thread where: a poster could post a song where he would like other posters to commentate/critic/analyze and give compliments and/or criticisms about the song the poster has posted, this would be fun knowing that other forumers actually took the care and effort to listen to your song. just remember to quote the song you intend to critic.

I dont know what any of the words mean so I can't really analyze that or offer any critiques or comments on that. In terms of the music though - its pretty simple, seems upbeat/positive, theres nothing offensive to my ears about it.

Its not the sort of music I'm into, so take into account my bias here - but I wouldn't call it horrible or amazing. It seems like a basic pop song - a song that some people might enjoy for a while, but ultimately not one that is going to have any long time popularity or exert any influence on the musical world, or push the art form into any new depths.

Unless the lyrics are something really powerful, or hide the secret to curing cancer or something.

Thank you Emiliano, the song is pretty much about a school girl's moments, the thing i like about this kind of music is that it is very "motherly" to me, as if somebody is lulling me to a world of positivity and carefreeness

Here are the lyrics to the song, just in case you wanted to understand what it means/says (I included the commentator's comment, she is an American fan-girl of this Japanese (yes, this song is copyrighted by Japanese artists) band:

Akane-iro ni somatteku
Sora to kimi to GURAUNDO (Ground)

Everything is stained in red:
The sky, and you, and the school field...
How many sunsets
Have we watched hurry by?

I can unfurl a shining map of the future
With my friends,
Yet I can't put into words
This feeling hidden inside me.

After school, when I cried alone in the classroom,
I wrote my dream in small letters
In the corner of my textbook...

And I decided in my heart:
"I'm going to get out of this town".
I watched the same sunset that day,
Singing.

Even the hill I walked up so many times
Is growing far away...
How does my back look
From there today?

I've moved forward only to stumble,
And lost things --
But when that happened,
I learned some important things.

I'll become as tender and strong
As the flowers in the vacant lot I detoured through
On the way home.

The scent of the wind, see,
Still hasn't changed --
Surely the one who can change something
Is me.

After school, when I cried alone in the classroom,
I wrote my dream in small letters
In the corner of my textbook...

And I decided in my heart:
"I'm going to get out of this town".
I'm watching the same sunset as I did that day,
Singing.
Oasis Heart3's Note:
[!!] As you can see, the meaning of the song title has changed. Stranger (who was the first "translator" of the song) wrote it as "Path". But I chaned it to "Rut" because it sounded like the singer was having problems in her life (I basically thought "rut" meant the same thing as "gutter"/"lowly problems"). But when Kiwi Musume translated it, she interpretted it as "Wheel Tracks".

She also explained why:

"Being in a rut is when you're stuck in a routine (often one that you're not particularly satisfied with) and you can't be bothered to change it, perhaps because the lack of stimulation has left you apathetic. That doesn't really fit this song, and even if it did, that meaning is not encompassed in "wadachi". Wadachi is just the marks that wheels leave on the ground. If I had to get analytical, I'd actually say that it symbolises the journey she's set out on and how far she's come..."
