Awww I feel your pain. I just moved 20 miles and my family and friends think it's to far to travel too. Only 25 minutes away too.

20 miles? I drive 18.5 miles to work...one way... I'm probably going to have to either go across the state, or possibly the country. All I know is that I kind of feel that I need to hurry up and make my mind up on what I am going to do with my life, otherwise I'm going to find myself sitting around 20 years from now wishing and regretting I didn't do something.

Most of the things that upset me the most don't even deal with career and money issues, and I've don't some stupid things with money. I mean I pay my bills and all but, that's not the point.

Anyway, I'm getting too off topic. I should start a thread entitled wth is wrong with Axle...

Oh and I will point out that DNA doesn't determine your biological sex, that's a chromosome...which frankly doesn't change how someone feels as a person...sooo yep. I mean I'm fine with people having conservative values, I have a few things I would be deemed conservative about but on social issues I'm definitely liberal. These are people who claim to be Christian and apparently holier than thou...

Chromosomes are DNA neatly woven into a more condence macromolecule, to make it easier/possible for cells to duplicate and then split the DNA into two so that the cell may divide, whilst keeping all of its genetic material readily available in both new cells. Technically the chromosomes need to be unwound and the doublestranded DNA split for it to be 'available' for transcription.

DNA does have a role to play in the sex of a person, regardless of what they want to be known as gender-wise. Its a small percentage of cells that determine the sex of someone and the cells aren't manipulated when a someone wants to change their gender and go through reassignment surgery, they get hormone treatment instead.

The normal view out there by many people is that sex and gender are intertwined as one, and while many transgender people do get abused for who they are it is wrong to assume that everyone who has a view against it actually thinks like those who openly say/post negative comments. Its a shame that trans people get so much abuse but its not fear, its misunderstanding that causes people to react the way they do.

Many people just believe that you cannot claim to be the opposite gender to what sex you were born as, it doesn't make them all haters but it often gets them opinions like them being transphobic, bigoted etc. I'll probably get a little bit of hate on my own view (and usually stay out of threads like these because of that) but it is pretty much what I've written in the previous sentence, but I've still treated trans people with the same respect as others in the open world as my view isn't relevant to them. You can disagree and still be civil with people.

we should learn to live with disability, it's not easy but self-pity is not an option ..

That's my point. I also feel that it means not going to facebook to trash trans people. I'm fairly certain people who choose to be trans are not doing it to get attention. I mean only the people that have a problem with someone being gay, trans, etc are making a big deal about it. The rest of the people go about their day not giving a shit. The more I see this stuff and the remarks people make the more I realize this sort of stuff breeds a much deeper hate... Then you have things like Matthew Sheppard happen Sad

I mean I think we can say the same about being gay, trans, etc. People should learn to live with it so they understand it, but doesn't work like that.

While I agree that self-pity gets no one anywhere. I'd say I would be a big wreck of a person if I lost my sight, or became paralyzed. At least for a while anyway. It is hard to come to terms with that sort of stuff.

Lol the world isn't to black and white with genetics sorry so saying your gender is preprogrammed in your DNA. Lol if that was the case I wouldn't be disabled lol. I'm the first person with my condition in my family so it's classed as a mutation. So don't use genetics as an excuse to bush other people, just isn't as simple as you think..hmmm leave genetics to people who actually knows something about the subject.

You could say leave the subject of trans people to only those who know about it, yet it is something that's come up from a poster who doesn't fully understand it. Its a thread that you've also added the subject of disability into when it was actually nothing to do with the threads subject. Discrimination against disabled people is very different from what trans people face, and if you want to speak about it then I welcome you to open up another thread where that topic can be the highlight.

No one is going around bashing trans people on this thread, people are simply approaching this thread with their opinions which they're entitled to have. If you've fully paid attention to what people have said they've all tried to be as respectful as possible on the matter only to now have you jumping on people for the reason that you don't like some of the posts.

Hmmm it's called empathising. Look it up.

Plus I was talking about genetics because someone else mentioned it and I was commenting on that.

I also was talking about hate crime towards anyone who is different.

Maybe you have a problem with disabilities lol.
