I like playing pool - 8 Ball. I'm decent at it. I went to a Baptist College that had a lifestyle statement that we had to sign. Included in the statement was the normal religious prohibitions - no sex b4 marriage, no drinking, no smoking, no drugs, no Dancing on Campus...

Well we spent a lot of time shooting pool , playing ping pong, and fooseball. Needless to say I got pretty good at those bar games.

When I 1st was outed I forced myself to go to the local gay bar, have a couple drinks and play pool.

One of the regulars who I got know later on, used a similar line on me...

For you non-billiards players in bars it's normal to play for a drink (beer or shot). Looser buys the winner a drink.

After recovered from my shock, I smiled and said thanks but how about just a beer.

Figure if you hang out at gay bars, expect to get hit on. You need to learn how to politely turn someone down. It's part and parcel of the game.

That's about it, @artyboy. Where we go, it's rather a mixed bunch, and many of the patrons are older. The young ones get properly hammered, though. How do they get any enjoyment from all this binge drinking ? It is a mystery to me.

I went to a gay pub the other week and there wasnt anyone in there on a saturday night. Might just be Swindon I guess. Sad to say it but the Mailcoach wont be around much longer if it goes on like this. Shame I guess.

It all depends on how much fuss the pubs make around it being a social place for people to unwind and meet and socialise. The pub we go to sometimes, does not open every evening anyway.

Might travel into Bristol or Oxford I think to find a more lively place to hang out.

We act like we own the place.
