The case against SUGAR
#11
artyboy Wrote:Well in the past there wasn't Microwave food etc and people still managed.

I use a slow cooker and I make stews and curries that I freze and microwave (lol). I just throw a load of stuff in it and leave it while I'm working or even over night.

Both parents also didn't have to work full time jobs to make ends meet...

In the past things were different, as I already said..

How were they different? Seems a first world problem to me.

Well how far back we going? 1950...1750? I mean surely you know that agriculture was very different not too far in the distant past. Society, technology, all that has changed greatly in the last 50 years... Food is way more abundant, particularly the cheaper variety which is in almost all cases not healthy.

Can't speak for the UK, but in the US there were way more small farms, it was typical that families had 10-12 children who were raised and worked on the farm. Everyone had their role to fulfill, there was no Xbox or TV to sit around and kill time with, nor was there a drive through. Simple, people were more physically active and didn't eat foods laced with sugar.

To many excuses, things maybe a little different in the UK, but there are still people using the same excuse over here. Making your own meal from scratch isn't that time consuming with abit of education.

See it is easy to point the finger when you're not in any of these situations.... Who are we to judge anyway? Not every meal made from scratch is healthy either, although most are, nor is every meal you can stick in the microwave unhealthy, a lot aren't.

I don't like using a one size fits all answer to a problem like this. It's not just one thing, it's not just that people plainly don't know how to cook, or don't have time or because they're not active or any reason. Just like not every person who is lazy, eats junk food all the time, smoke cigarettes or whatever, not all of those people will get sick...but most will.

Why aren't you and I Olympians? What's the excuse there? It is just as absurd to ask a person making $8 an hour why they don't eat healthier food? Maybe because they like having a roof over their heads? You give me the notion that you don't think that's the case and only an excuse to go have mac and cheese because why? They know better than to eat junk?

Perhaps you're not getting my point or perhaps I'm not seeing yours...
