Learning about cats
#21
After looking at videos of cats in heat, your totally right. They would get very annoying putting their butts in the air all day and meowing. If fixed are boys or girls better?

I have a black fluffy little monster. He was an indoor cat before he moved in with me, I dont have time for litter trays and what not so I let him out after a few days and he came straight back no problems. I had a tabby cat before this little dude, proper out doors cat and a very good ratter, he used to kills loads of them and the back door where I used to live used to get covered in their blood lol! But I had to put him down as he had a groth in the mouth and was to old to do anything with as he would of died under the knife and he had loads of other health problem due to being 18 years old. Good age for a cat really.

Male cats seem more loyal to me and females are very bright which can become a problem, if you dont get males or females done they piss everywhere and the males go round raping every female cat or sometimes even male cats. As with humans they can catch STDs and other nasty stuff which is hard to see.

Ive had two male cats and they seem to be more calmer and loyal.

the male cat I had was more calm, a lot less snugly (then again he was outdoor) and he had a bit of a temper problem. He wanted petting until he didnt.
my little girl I have now is a powder puff, if you do something she doesn't like she will complain but she never bites or claws. I have given her a few baths, I cut her nails, I clip her hair, she hates it all and fuses but lets me do it. She is also a snuggle bug, loves to be loved on and will sit in your lap or sleep on the bed with you 24/7 (if you allow it). Also allot of people have cats that want to live under a bed, she likes people, will keep a distance for 3 minutes and sniff then be in their lap lol, never hides under a bed.

From personal experience male cats maybe a bit more dependent and want less attention, also a bit more temperamental. Female cats are a bit more affectionate and easy going.

really I cant provide a good sample though 1 male outside and 1 female inside, one a wondering stray the other adopted from a shelter.

Your best bet in either case though, is adopt.
You will see their personality and pick one that you like best I live in a small town and our shelter had ALLOT to pick from. I guess maybe 25? if you look around you will surely find one with a personality you like Big Grin.

We keep our cats inside. Too many Birds of Prey, Bobcats, Coyotes where we live in the sticks.

We're on cat 3 and 4. First cat was actually our neighbor's cat when we were living in a townhouse. The neighbor had 4 cats, 3 dogs, and 5 kids. My partner and I would sit on our patio and smoke / drink during the summer.

I called the cat over and it hopped right in my lap and went to sleep. Every time I'd go outside the cat would do the same. Eventually it came right in the house and we started feeding it. The Cat's original name was Dew as in Mountain Dew. We renamed it Tooty and it moved with us to Missouri. I told the neighbor when I saw him that his cat moved into our house. He didn't care as it was 1 less mouth to feed.

Tooty was my cat, I'd wake up with him sleeping on my chest in the morning with his paws on my face. He would hop into anyone's lap though. I'd have cat conversation with him. He passed away (liver failure) and is buried out front of our house.

We briefly had a kitten that found it's way to our door. Kitten was sick and didn't last long, also buried in our pet cemetery.

Currently have 2 male cats Claude (Russian Blue) and Basil (Maine Coon mix). My partner found Claude at a Pet Smart. They have rescue cats and Claude was talking to Brad as soon as he opened the cage. Claude then wanted to be held. Claude is Brad's cat. He walks across me to get held by Brad. Only way I'll Claude in my lap, is if I make a hammock out of a blanket between my legs when sitting.

Our other cat was a Barn Kitten. Friend of ours posted a picture of the litter of kittens he had and tagged each kitten with our names. We picked out a male fur ball and named him Basil. Claude actually raised Basil - bathed him, etc. They are now best buds and sleep on top of each other plus ambush each other. Basil is not quite a lap cat, yet. He doesn't like getting picked up, he does come running for treats and loves to be pet.

Regarding litter boxes - cats seem to have an instinct to use them. Just got to keep em clean.

L to R - Claude & Basil:
