How was your 2017 Valentine's Day ?

(14th February has always been more of a Friendship Day than a day of lovers to me, because that's how we celebrated it at school. We celebrated friendship on this day from elementary school till high school graduation. And that's ingrained in me now. Although I would also argue that your lover is also your friend, so it's not a different thing).

Also made surprise gifts for a couple of other acquaintances of mine (male, of course). One of them loved it; the other one, it seems, was weirded out, so I'm not sure how receptive people actually are to this whole ''secret-admirer'' thing. Not that it was about that anyway, in this case. But some guys claim they want secret admirers (or the like), and when someone actually surprises them with an unexpected gift, not all of them feel comfortable with the gesture.

So, I celebrated friendship on Valentinus' Day (sic). As I always do.

Some people don't know how to be good recipients. I guess it's also an art to know how to welcome a treat.

Enjoyed writing a note to a friend that I really miss writing back and forth with.

Got a kick out of using my VERY elementary Spanish to talk to the guys putting on my new roof. The fellow picking up trash obviously speaks no English. When I said something to him he smiled and asked me if I spoke Spanish. I said very, very little but he still seemed happy at the effort and smiled and nodded at me the rest of the day. Nice guy. Shitty job. Hard worker.

It was a good day overall.
Where's the roof guy from? Latin America, I'm guessing. Mexico? Cuba?

I'm indifferent to Valentine's Day, I like the friendship idea. I mean my friends invited me and several of their other friends over and had ribeye and stuff...

So it was a good and also a not so good day for me...for other reasons that I probably should skip over.

But, I am reconnecting with a friend I haven't seen since I was in high school, was actually my first "girlfriend".... I think she's lost her damn mind, trying to talk some sense into her. Met some older guy on POF a couple weeks ago and has all these plans to get married and move across the state to move in with him... I'm like wtf? I thought I rushed things... Hell I was just wanting to go to dinner and then fool around and then maybe after some time maybe get more serious. Anyway, another subject...

I do also have a date this Saturday, so there's that.

I'm supposing Mexico. He had Mayan features.

Nah, he actually liked it. Just took him a while to express that to me. All is good. Smile

(But you are right on what I quoted you on).

That's great news!

I'm glad to hear you're meeting and interacting more with people in the real world. That's very healthy.

Good luck on your date!

Thanks. I have been trying to meet other people for a while. Most of the time it is someone who is 2 or more hours away...while I'm willing to make the drive, they aren't. Kind of how I was explaining to someone that someone in Asheville isn't going to travel 90 miles to meet someone where I might travel 90 miles to Asheville to meet someone.

But yeah, I know I needed to do something...

That sounds indulgent and slightly unhealthy, but LOL.
