According to legend, Queen Marie Antoinette saved her cats by having them sent to Maine before she was beheaded. Another legend holds they're part raccoon, hence the other part of the name, but that's been proven false. They're adapted to the wilds of New England. @CellarDweller should get a good look at them because I included them in the story I'm writing about him.
