I'm a : Gay Man in a Monogamous Gay Relationship

Yeah, I don't think I really have a gaydar. If someone wants me to know, I'll know with some interaction at least, but not on sight really. I've been off the mark totally in some cases (or have I?).

meridannight I didn't say all gay boys listen to madonna, have female friends etc, that would make no sense. From my experience though when a guy does most/all of these things I listed, they're gay in 99% of the cases. Or do you know a straight guy that matches the description?
Sorry if you see this reply two times, I posted this already but I believe the moderator deleted it.

If your gaydar means just by looking at them then no.
I usually don't really think about other's sexuality unless I'm interested in that guy, or I feel like they checked me out.
But I've learnt that some people are just flirty in nature, or enjoy being checked out / hit on so it's really hard to tell if they are really gay or not. :/ wish I could have a greatdar.

I have the absolute worst gaydar, I have a funny story about it too.
When I was in middle school I met my now best friend Jamie, at the time I had a huge crush on him so I made friends with him and after like a year I thought he liked me too and I tried to kiss him. He stopped me and I admitted that I was crushing on him, he said that he wasnt gay and we decided to stay friends. He is the one that actually helped me come out of the closet, we still hang out nearly every weekend.

Was that necessary, Meridan? I didn't say all gay guys like Madonna, only have female friends etc.
But from my experience, when a guy does most/all these things I listed they're pretty much 100% gay.
Or do you know a straight dude who matches the description?

It is a pretty bad generalisation. I worked with a few guys that flamed more than me, when to the Sydney Mardis Gras, simply adore Madonna and Kylie and love to fluff it up with the girlies.....straighter than a die...married with kids.
Most fags I know love rock, metal, punk, indie music, work on cars, watch the footy and motor sports and hock a gollie.
I only have one friend who loves all the streotypical gay shit and is actually gay, and he happens to also be a drag queen...so he is a bitch

I love me some Country and rock and roll.
Though my music taste does get questioned alot. Not because Im gay. But because people think country music is a mistake

Yeah mate, think that you cant generalise. The rise of the 'meterosexual' means that you see straight guys that 10-15 years ago you'd think they were gay. Meanwhile there are plenty of gay guys that are 'regular guys'. Think its about being comfortable to be the man you want to be: Straight bi gay or any other shades in between. Culture and sub cultures will always try to make us feel that we have to be a certain way.

I know masculine gays too, and now that you mention it I did meet a straight guy who is pretty close to what I described. Still, if I meet a feminine guy surrounded by girls who is also a huge *insertfemalepopstarhere* fanboy I can't help but think they're probably gay. I don't think we should discuss this any further though...unless we find certain statistic data to back up our claims, we can only use personal experience and opinions as arguments.

When I was 20 I worked in a bar and one of the regulars was known for shagging his way around the women of the town. One night I was having a drink after my shift before heading home. He came and sat next to me and started asking what I thought about his arms and asking me to feel them. I just laughed and said I would rather not. I thought he was being a dick as usually him and his mates made playful remarks after discovering I was gay. He then asked if I wanted to go back to his house for some wine. Again I just laughed it off as him messing around. He kept making suggestive remarks until I started to get a bit weirded out so I said "look, I'm going home, you're probably drunk and you're also straight". He then looked me dead in the eye with a steely gaze and with the most serious voice I'd ever heard him use "am I? Come back with me and you'll find out". Anyway I went home and we never brought it up again. However I won't lie, sometimes I do wish I'd gone back with him to find out
I've also had a few instances of 'straight' guys that I would NEVER assume had gay leanings feeling me up or whatever as soon as they find out I'm gay, which is usually pretty uncomfortable - probably because they do it out of the blue and I've not thought of them in that way AT ALL. Also, I didn't ask for it.
I'd say I've learnt that sexuality is fluid and is not black and white. I've always known I was sexually attracted to guys yet I've found girls VERY attractive at times. Just last year I met my friend and we went clubbing, he took his female friend and we just seemed to click in some weird feeling way. There was one moment where we were dancing together and something happened and we went to kiss each other which was weird but I felt like I really, really wanted to.
Gossip is the Devil’s telephone; best just to hang up.
