40th Anniversary of the stonewall riots

fudger Wrote:Perhapse we should remember Stonewall more but as no one died maybe 2 minites silence wouldn't be the way to do it. maybe fund raising on the day for people around the world that are still fighting the fight and need protection would be more apropriate.

Okay, you got me......

But people have lost their lives for loving someone of the same sex.....

I said the stonewall riots because that was the beginning (so to speak) and it is the 40th anniversary this year which triggered the global marches we all know as pride.

Surely a remembrance wouldn't go a miss, I mean it is now 40 years and as I have said, it would teach our youth of the struggle our forefathers went through to get where we are today.....

It's like Marshy said....

We should remember the past so that we can deal with the future

i really wish, despite the violence endured, i was part of those marches and protests like the Stonewall Riots. it would be interesting if there was a huge gay march up to Congress when (and/or if) they decide about gay marriage and the legalities thereof. i would love to be a part of that and be happy to stand up with millions on what's right.
