What do you do for a living?
#1
If we already have a topic on this I apologize.

I thought it would be an interesting thread learning about what we do for a living (work).

Me, I do clerical work for an agency. (such as shredding, mail tasks, filing, delivering paperwork, update brochures, answer phones, etc)

I'm a Welfare Queen, living on the largess of the government, a whopping $245 a month in cash and $167 a month in food stamps.

I'm going up in the world this year as I claimed disability. Degenerating vertebrae, degenerating and herniated disks, scoliosis, osteoporosis, stenosis in the lumbar region (ergo my need for a cane), neuropathy, plus a plethora of mental health "issues" and uncontrolled epilepsy.

I will move up to $735 a month cash and $11.00 in foodstamps per month. Living Large in New Mex-I-go-to-hell......

My first pain specialist upon reviewing my MRI's asked what I did for a living the conversation went sort of like this:

Pain Specialist, "What do you do for a living?"

I replied with all sincerity,m "I work construction."

He replied with a smirk, "Used to do construction."

After getting my back shot up with steroids I went home. I stopped at the store and got a couple bottles of vodka... I 'rested' and contemplated his words.

This was before the DEX test which revealed I have the bones of an 80-90 year old, once that came through steroids was off the list of things that could be done. See Steroids will rot out the bones faster.

Since I'm already falling and stumbling due to neuropathy (non diabetic) and passing out because my blood pressure is barely high enough (but my electrocardiogram says I have a strong heart and the Cardiologist doesn't expect to see me for about 40 more years (I'd be 90 at that time, bones would be 120-130). (no I'm not really 111, I'm 51 with bones of 80, heart of a 25 year old... IDK how to average all that out)

So fall risk means canes... Actually I have crutches I'm suppose to use, but I stick with the one cane when I go places and am an Adrenalin junky at home, walking around without the cane.

What I used to do was construction, gardening, caretaker of a plot of land for 18+ years.

I'm intelligent, educated and could have done mental stuff, but working with my hands was more satisfying to the soul.

I'm an educator at a museum, with a focus in special needs education, most weekday mornings and saturdays. Most weekday afternoons I oversee and help facilitate an academic after school / summer program in a primarily immigrant neighborhood at a library. And typically twice a week I work with mostly older immigrants tutoring conversational / survival English through a community center in the neighborhood I grew up in.

My work as a jewelry designer brings in about 40% of my yearly income. I am also a nail tech, gas station attendant, nursery (plants, not babies) employee/botanical advisor, and farm worker.

I don't care too much about living... Except that I do/use to do various things.
My job it's not my priority right now, cause I really dislike the place where I live, my family, environment etc, so I want to relocate as I did in the past...

My main thing is working with Art, but every time I put my face in the Artist's market I vomit, I know that field, galleries etc, it's something -almost- only about money, with people that judge your work having studied (and created) nothing compared to you, they just had enough money from their family and they've opened a space etc. Mostly, and I hate when I see other artists that I personally know (even better than myself) doing the shit that this people wants instead of their real Artistic production (Yeah, I'm thinking about someone specific..)

So to survive I do random jobs, in the last to years I worked as a customer service inbound operator for a worldwide major company of elevators, but I'm like a wildcard (cause of my choice*) so for example in the last period I worked little and I was thinking of find another job, but recently they've planned a lot of shifts for the summer, so I'm ok with that, and I'll continue staying with them, at least for a couple of months.

*Cause sometimes I do minor/single projects with my creativity and I want to travel, attend courses etc.

So I just attended a course to became a museum-guide for blind people, and I'd like to start a career in this field, cause I really care about the social and cultural use of Art. I'd like to work in this field almost suppressing all of the other jobs like the customer service, bartender, window dresser etc.
In any case I'll not drop my Artistic profile, cause it's a real matter in my life, but living in this shitty place it's not easy to spread my word...

It is a common theme for artists to first have to die before they are recognized... Perhaps you should fake your death. I'm sure either the Media's Fake News or Trumps "Alternative facts" will come handy in this ....Wavey
