Misha1961Hi Everyone...New to the site here
#1
I everyone.  My name is Mike.  I'm a 62yo gay white male who is single and living in Colorado.  I live with my adopted son and, due to a severe accident when I was 21, use a wheelchair to get around in...although I can still walk a few steps.

I don't really have an agenda.  Just looking to chat with folks, maybe make a few friends and see where that goes.

I can speak Spanish and Russian fairly well and smatterings of other languages.

Hope to hear from some of you.

Cheers!

Mike

Welcome Mike! I'm in NC and been here a good while. It's slower than ever but many great members still pop in now and again. So I hope you'll stay and share all you like! I work as a recovery specialist with people living with long-term differing abilities. I can imagine using a chair for mobility but I can't begin to appreciate it for such a long time. Hope you find some interesting, entertaining, and fun posts!

Hi Chad.  Thanks.  I guess, technically, I'm from NC as well.  We moved away when I was 8, but everyone but me has moved back now.

I've only been in the chair for about 10 years now. I opted for the power chair version because it lets me be more independent, shopping, walking the dog, etc, but it's a pain to travel with it as it weighs more than I do. I was hit by a truck when I was 21.  Flew 265 feet they tell me (Superman, lol), but I don't remember a thing.  9 surgeries on the legs later, well, here I am.  I can't say its great fun, but...beats the alternative, right?

The site seems pretty cool.  I was in a lonely mood yesterday (snowstorm, achey in me bones, etc) so I went a searching for something like this.  Had some fun reading through old posts yesterday.  Made the day pass a bit better.

Take care and good talking with you.  Mike

@Misha1961 do you drive? Do you have a ramp/lift to move your chair with you as you travel? You will NEVER get through all the vast content here. Since we moved to this last server I'm not sure just how much content is still actually accessible versus archived but I still find entertaining, intriguing, and even beguiling content here. LOL

Hey Chad. I have a small trailer with a ramp and a winch to lift the ramp. The winch cable broke this morning, so I left early to fix it...then the battery on the winch fob died...changed that out, and then the battery to power the winch acted like it was dead. It was covered in snow all weekend, but I wouldn't have thought that would have killed it dead. I guess I'll check out the battery tomorrow. Just hope the winch didn't die on me.

I got to the jokes session last night and had a good chuckle. I'll root around some more as I get time. Lots of older post here, 5 or more years old. Not sure about replying to those threads. Is there a protocol?

Over the weekend, I watched a couple of movies...Jose and Red, White, and Royal Blue. I liked the movies, but they made me feel somewhat lonely.

Take care, man! Mike

@Misha1961 you can reply and post wherever you find something to share or contribute for sure, no matter where or how old. This forum goes back many more years than one would guess.
