Remain friends if one has a crush on the other?

My friend had a huge crush on me he has even told me. I told him I'd like to just be friends and even though he would try and hit on me we stayed friends and still are.

I suppose it is possible..depends on the individuals really. I personally wouldn't recommend it for alot of reasons. I had to deal with it due to my job all the time when I was younger and I hated it. When I realized someone had a crush on me I would do everything I could think of to get them to end it on their terms...make it their idea...I would try to become what they disliked the most temporarily so it could end peacefully. There is also the reality that when someone who is your friend that has a crush on you begins to manipulate you and everyone around you which is really ugly and uncomfortable to deal with when you figure it out. The ones who held on despite everything...the ones who were building a white picket fence and sticking me behind it...YIKES. It makes me uncomfortable when someone would build a pedestal for me (and it happens all the time when you work in a gay club)...they are going to get really mad when they find out you are not the person they imagined you to be in their fantasy and, of course, it is your fault...not theirs....and once they build you up and tear you down you have to deal with it because you work there...so I say...avoid it if you can. Getting older does have it's benefits...I don't have to deal with that anymoremile: .
