Lithuania's latest proposals plumb greater depths of homophobia
#1
Earlier this year we heard about the Lithuanian Parliament approving legislation to outlaw the "promotion of homosexuality" in its schools. New proposals take this attitude even further, possibly making any mention of homosexuality in public places a criminal act.

I wonder why people get so hot under the collar about EU control of member states when the whole European machine seems to lumber away from confronting something that really matters?

Lithuanian is a Baltic state and was formerly controlled by the Soviets. Since becoming free it looks to have slipped back into a police state, how very sad that it has been allowed to happen. Who is the guilty party?

This article suggests that conservative politicians, hostile information media and the Catholic church all influence these so-called "family values", but that the isolation of former Soviet states under communism separated them from the advances being made in other parts of the world.

Hi. Marshlander.

I sometimes take a interest in these issues, so I did some research and found these quotes.

The Law against Homosexual Propaganda in Schools.
This is a quote by one of the guilty party who co-sponsored that bill.
"We have finally taken a step which will help Lithuania raise healthy and mentally sound generations unaffected by the rotten culture that is now overwhelming them," said Petras Grazulis, a member of parliament and co-sponsor of the bill. He would probably look good in a 'SS' uniform.

The main guilty party in this crime against gay people is the Catholic church.
Lithuania's strong Catholic presence, estimated to be 80 per cent, is a constant irritant to homosexualist campaigners. Tolerant Youth Association chairman Vytautas Valentinavicius told media in July, "The Catholic Church has an enormous influence on the President of Lithuania as well as [parliament]," giving this as the reason Adamkus "has never stood up for Human rights, especially LGBT rights."

The Catholic church has been very forceful in its aims to make the people of Lithuania to be anti-gay. What are they going to next, invite the Spanish Inquisition. Just how many innocence people over the centuries have the Catholic church murdered and persecuted by these religious fanatics. Lets hope the EU under its Human Rights legislation, can make Lithuania see their mistake before its too late.
