hello albert. . well, i really didn't know if i'm the first indonesian guy in here Smile)
In indonesia, life of being a gay is not that hard anymore. . people nowadays are more open minded about our orientation, n really don't mind. Especially in big cities, like jakarta and surabaya, homosexuality is common (in my opinion), though many of us consider to stay in the closet. I guess no matter how far this country has developed, there's always pros and cons about being a gay, so being discreet is always best. But i'm open now with my college friends though. . . hehe. .and they really don't mind.
Sadly, some places like in aceh province, really can't accept homosexuality. Law of islam is pretty strong in there, so gays in there have to be really discreet.

But , i really have to admit that gays in indonesian are keep increasing in number Tongue

I have not yet been to Indonesia ... maybe one day.

I love to play gamelan, although it has been a while since I had access to one. I used to teach some elementary pieces from Central Java and wrote a booklet for teachers to introduce gamelan to their pupils. I sometimes work for a musical charity that owned a beautiful gamelan until recently. They commissioned it from a maker in Yogyakarta, I think. Sadly they had to sell it :frown:

There are a number of gamelans in the UK now and I know of three within fifty miles of me.

Thanks for your answer Esthandior. I'm sure I'm glad to hear that it is easier for gays now in Indonesia because it is a Muslim country after all. It's a shame that people have to be discreet and quiet about it to be left alone, even though I don't think someone's sexuality should be pushed in other people's faces, of course. For me it remains a fairly private matter, but it's difficult to hide to others who you love and who you live with.
