Out or in the closet?
#21
I came out to friends and my two brothers at 21 then it took till I was 30 to finnaly tell my parents and sister. Now I tell everyone I meet if I'm going to spend any time with them, like work coleages and people in my local pubs, it just doesn't seem such a big deal anymore. It's true that the people who matter don't mind and the people who mind don't matter.
Acceptence from ones parents is the biggest liberator you can have. I'm closer to them now than I ever was in the closet and they love my partner like a son.

That's the way it should go... And one day maybe my parents will be able to relate like that to Marsh's offspring, and off-offspring (that's quite a generation gap there, lol. Wink ) but until his own family accept him totally for who he is, and until they admit that I exist as an essential part of his life, we'll just have to make do with what is. Some things do take time. But I'm not worried, just in case you wondered. Things are as they are, and they are honestly not too bad, considering what others have to put up with and go through in other communities. Have to add that Marsh's dad has met my mum and they seemed to get on well enough, or at least be civil to each other. I wasn't there to witness. Marsh can fill you in on the details.
Totally agree, no time to waste with losers. By the way it's nice to see you're back.

I am out to everyone that matters. In years past I worked hard at being out, leading demonstrations even, did a lot of stuff for the liberation movements. Now I don't hide it, and I don't care who knows, I just treat it as part of who I am and nothing to make an effort to disclose or conceal. Live like your out whether you are to everyone or not. I think they call that freedom.
