I wouldn't, I'd advise my friends against it. But they'd still be my friends if they did.

Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.

I wouldn't pay for sex . I would just accept that i'm no longer in my 20's and find myself a fit older guy. Just cos we are older , we can still have a fantastic body and a six pack , make a bit of effort and it can happen for most guys ( look at George Clooney for example) for me it's something of a turn off thinking about an 18yr old being young enough to be my son! Likewise I wouldn't date anyone who was old enough to be my dad either. Age comes to all of us , embrace it rather than pretend we are forever eternal
I would want any guy who I was with to be into me as much as I was into him ( no punn intended). If the young guy was pretending to enjoy it but underneith feeling disgusted then that is a turn off in itself.

It's good to see that no-one has a big issue with this, and of course I had a bit of an agenda in posing the question..
..as a bi guy I tend to have encounters rather than relationships (with both sexes), and being very self-sufficient, that's fine for me..
My only issue is that I find as I get older, my taste in sexual partners remains the same, although I suppose I should be grateful that my libido is as strong as ever!
The problem now is that when I go to one of my favourite gay haunts, such as Chariots; I can come away without a good result with anyone I fancy, despite their being plenty of fanciable guys there.
I've explored the rent scene, but find it a bit scary and sordid in the UK..
..I'd love to be able to go half way, and get to know one or two young slim students (preferably dark or dusky skinned..) who wouldn't mind having an older guy drop round to their pad armed with a decent bottle or two, and allow me the pleasure of exploring their lunchboxes, while we wait for a takeaway to be delivered...
- Oh well...!

I remember seeing this film about a boy who rented out his company and body to clients, some old enough to be his father but who "chose" them... So he had something like 10 - 20 regulars, people with whom he could connect sufficiently to perform and get paid for it. Boy Culture was the name of the film. I think that, contrary to female prostitution, male prostitution often seems to target their clients so that they can perform. I see why, though, the mechanics might not work if utterly disgusted. And, to agree with all here, escorting, if it includes sexual favours in exchange for money is prostitution, no doubt about it.

Hello Red, I think you have answered your own question. Obviously, escorts, whatever sort they are, are the thing for you, since you would like no strings attached except the money owing for a service. It seems to me that you'll need to shop around, in that case, for the commodity you are seeking. I'm sure they exist. A lot of penniless students are ready to sell their charms for money. Find what you think is affordable and maybe in the run of things you will find that rare pearl that satisfies your needs sexually and for the occasional bit of company.

i think its a bit sad really, i would never do it! i feel sorry for older guys who do this, they obviously have very little self respect and self worth, the fact they are paying some one to sleep with them takes the whole idea of love out of it, which to me makes it pretty pointless, maybe thats just me

I understand your point of view, Lee, but I'd say, wait till you get to our ages and then you might think again. We no longer have the beauty and allure of youth. You want something you can't necessarily get for free, someone's ready to exchange if for money. It happens. Let's get real, it's one of the oldest professions.
It would be sad to anyone actually looking for love... in which case they would most likely not find it... but in this case it's just fulfilliing a need, like, say, buying bread from a bakery because you're hungry, or buying ointment from the chemist's because you've got an itch ... it's a business transaction for a normal urge that can't always be satisfied with a loving partner.
Some people are not ready for the emotional attachments of love, or feel that they can't deal with them now. Does it necessarily devalue the people who are in the sex industry, the fact that they are ready to get paid for a service which is a bit like a healing service? I'm not sure. I suppose we should be grateful to them for offering that service, or there would be a lot more rape.

Thats a very good point, i was looking at things in a slightly different perspective.
I was thinking the older guy is paying the younger guy, not only to fulfill the need, (which i understand) but to feel they were loved.
I agree with all what you say, but i still think its sad, im sure there would be plenty of other people in the same situation out there, and if they managed to get together, im sure they would enjoy it a lot more. maybe thats just me trying to make everything perfect and taking it too far away from the real world. I just think its really sad

I really don't see any problem in paying for sex. As long as both are consenting adults and all proper precautions have been taken (STI testing, condoms, etc...) it is a legitimate way to make extra cash and in the current recession I know of plenty of people who are taking to sex work to keep themselves and their families afloat. If you're okay with it than go for it.
