Heartbroken. I really need some help. Thanks.

Asking someone to spend more time with you isn't unreasonable at all, if you're serious about each other. My ex used to make me feel like that. We lived a long way apart and I saw him only rarely, and briefly at that, over the last few years. I always thought we'd end up living together, which after several years didn't seem like too much to ask, and patiently kept hoping but never daring to bring up the subject, but in the end I realised he had never loved me at all. So, I decided that if I ever have another relationship, it will be with someone who wants to spend time with me and wants to live with me when the time seems right. I certainly won't stand for being neglected in that way again, that's a mistake. Asking for too much commitment too soon can come across as clinginess, it's true, but there comes a point when it stops being too much, and I think I now have a better idea of when that point comes.

I wouldn't know whether he loved you in the past, but I will say this: if I had feelings for someone and he said he wanted to spend more time with me, I wouldn't dump him - I'd gladly agree! So how can it be your fault if he didn't want to do that? He's trying hard to play down what he's done here. Texting you the day after to "make sure you're okay", telling you he was ending it because he didn't want to hurt you... it's bad enough that he's done precisely that, but even worse is the way he's making light of your feelings now - which is why I personally would not want to remain friends with him.

What if he wants to come back with me? What should I do?
