And while we're doing Scotland - Big Jim Salter by Stone the Crows. Incredible voice of Maggie Bell and the tough lesson of Les Harvey's death ... always use circuit breakers Cry

Sadly, Teenage Licks was one of those casualties of my divorce ... (did she really throw all those records away?).

Meanwhile, Les's big bro, the sensational Alex Harvey, was doing this to Tom Jones ...

Did you like the dancing in the middle, Joseph? That's one of my favourite bits.

Ahhhh...Woodstock...I had a huge crush on Roger Daltrey and Melanie,,,

Melanie was sorta folk rock...love this song and the audience is the best...also the Edwin Hawkins group is perfect...

Anything by Brand New. Well. Their first album Your Favorite Weapon was more of a teenage punk thing but Deja Entendu, The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me, and Daisy are rock-centric. Also their album Fight Off Your Demons but that was never released....technically.

Thanks for posting the Melanie clip. I loved the Candles in the Rain album, wish I still had it. My whole street knew "Lay Down". It's one of those songs that cannot be listened to quietly.

Here's another of my favourites from Candles in the Rain.

I'm pretty sure I must have mentioned her set at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. It was probably as close to a real religious experience (not the ones I had to imagine I had when I was a Mormon!) as I have ever been. She began singing in the dark and the sky gradually lightened as dawn broke. It was perfect for her songs.
