Hi
#11
Hello and welcome. I really like Germany and would like to go there some day soon. I have very, very nice memories with Germans from the recent past and not only, but mostly. Hope you have a good time on here! :]

By the way, I think your English is perfectly adequate... and anything we don't understand we'll seek to translate from German... or we'll find a way. Good luck with your posts... and the "zoo" (you and I know what I mean Wink)

And they may be unusually for you ... because I´m lacto-vegetarian ... no eggs, no cheese... and I hate soya.

I´m still thinking in time at my mother-in-law.. she invites us to dinner ... served chickenwings  and said : "Boy ... that you can eat ... it´s all vegetarian ... no pig, no cow ":eek:
She invites me never again after my question where the chickentrees are and the fishplants are standing. Biglaugh

Marshlander and I are ovo-lacto and will have cheese but we experienced something similar with one of our friends who'd done her best to make it a vegetarian corner in one of her dishes which had meat in it... lol. So funny Rolleyes what people don't really understand sometimes!!! But we found a way around it in the endConfusedmile:.

As a general rule, I always make a point of asking my guests if they will eat anything or if they have intolerances to any foods, that way, they don't get any unpleasant surprises, but some people still believe that a good guest will eat anything.

I once read in a vegetarian magazine also, that if you are invited out and you don't know what's for food, then you bring something that you can eat and that you can share with the other guests too... That way, you don't make your host or hostess feel awkward about not having the right food on display. I use that trick often, and find it quite useful.

It was certainly useful on Thursday night. Maybe that's really why our host was standing on his chair and dancing just prior to bringing out his huge horn and making everyone blow it ...
