Recycling Waste
#21
Here in Spain we have to separate 4 types of rubbish - paper, glass, cartons and tins, and general household rubbish. Our rubbish is collected EVERY DAY (well every night actually). There is also a widespread custom of leaving any unwanted but usable furniture etc beside the bins: it always disappears with in hour or two: the unemployment is very high here and people use these items for themselves or sell them on. There are also other schemes: for example when you buy new tyres for your car, you have to pay to have the old ones recycled.

In the UK most local councils have trouble in arranging a fortnightly collection, an every day collection service here would be too expensive and not be environmental friendly unless the dump trucks were electric driven. Most councils don't allow you to place any rubbish next to your bin, it has to be in the bin and not sticking out. You will be fined by the Bin Police if you do, stupid rules I think, just makes people dump it illegally.
