You are quite right that if nobody knows you are gay, then if any if the men you already know have feelings for you then chances are they will keep them to themselves. However there may well be no such men.

Perhaps you should try meeting other gay men (in real life as well as us). They will understand what you are going through, and you have a much better chance of finding someone who is attracted to you.

Christ erm... Probably my mate ollie. He's probably the only one who'd atleast try to understand. He regularly recognises the close mindedness of the rest of our group, and is someone who I'm most emotionally close to.
As with the social scene , I have never even thought about it - I think I'm afraid that this is just a phase and I will get over it, but this has been brewing and growing for too long now that if I don't do serving I'm gonna go insane.

As I said, gay bar or gay pub, or gay group: there are bound to be some in Cambridge. Or else try some charity work...

There are loads of options for gay contacts in Cambridge, although some of them may be aimed at students and precious few of them seem to be up to date! There's a FaceBook page Cambridge Gay Scene (LGBT) | Facebook although it doesn't seem to have been updated recently either. There used to be the monthly Dot Cotton Club at The Junction on the last Saturday of each month, but I think they have another club night instead now. As far as I know, The Bird In Hand is the only gay pub at the moment, although there were others, including the Fleur de Lys. I saw one statistic that listed Cambridge as having the sixth largest glbt population in the country. Here's a page of links

Finally told someone how I feel- a close friend of mine who was just really understanding, and didn't make me out to be some sort of wierdo- just said to embrace who I am, and I am really thankful to both him and everybody on here. He suggested I tell more people but I doubt that anyone is openminded enough to Understand, but I guess you only live once...!

He was open-minded enough so why not anyone else? I dare say not everyone is open-minded enough to understand but I doubt no-one else is.

I may have to take back some of my enthusiasm for the gay life of Cambridge. I had a meal with some friends on Saturday who have a 23 year old gay son in Cambridge. It seems there really is a dearth of socialising options. Weird.
