I can't stand what they do..how could you ever picket someones funeral? This is the last chance their family has to say goodbye to them.. and you have to ruin it for them. Selfish..

I am however reminded of the words of Mathew Shephard's mother when she came to speak at my college. She mentioned them. "Honestly, I'm quite thankful they show up. Whenever they do show up and make asses of themselves, I get double the turnout and every single one of them is twice as sympathetic to human suffering as they would normally be." Now thatis inspiring. The fact that these people are so universally reviled that they inspire acceptance and solidarity concerning the oppressed in all those they meet. People like that are a constant living reminder to all of us to be more compassionate, because those people are what happens when compassion leaves the building.

I was going to show up there. I remember when she came to Ramapo. It was in the fall of 2007... maybe spring 2007. I'm not entirely sure.

This lawyer/psyops campaign would be better ignored by everyone than given one minute to hear them sway people to their hate spewing. Westboro is every reason a person gay or straight hates religion, preferably Christianity. This is all very disturbing and hard to believe they won the case of being able to protest at those soldier's funerals to "prove" an erroneous point.

They won their right to free speech not just non-objectionable free speech.

No, I have to disagree. I am quite proud of our Supreme Court for that decision. Despite a universal hatred for what the group says and does, they have the fundamental human right to say it, if they wish. I don't want the slovenly free speech of some countries where its fine to say anything as long as it does not offend any one.

There is a youtube video called: "Westboro Babtist Church family disowns daughter-20/20" I just watched about how the childern are indoctrinated. 3 year old kids singing "God Hates the World". Chilling to say the least.

Also interestingly, the decision related to a particular protest of a particular soldier and a law-suit by the grieving father. That protest was 1000 feet away and he only learned of it when he watched the TV news that evening.

I have this feeling that the Westboro Church does more good for gay rights than bad because of how much they alienate even most social conservatives.

Instead of going into a very long explanation on why they're idiots, I'm just going to say this:

They're a bunch of twats.
