Anal vs. Just Oral
#1
Hey peeps!
I'm just to that point in my life when I feel like it's a good time to start a realationship with the right man - not just a sexual relationship, but also an intimate and maybe long-term relationship. Anyways, enough with the background info... I've not been sexually active before, and I've read that it's not just anal intercourse that poses health threats, such as HIV/STD's, but that oral also can pose these. What is considered "safe sex" in the world of oral sex? I've briefly looked over the forums and haven't found anything on this yet. I even came across a site that recommended using a condom when giving your boyfriend a blowjob. Really? Doesn't that totally defeat the purpose? My main concern is for the HIV virus with oral sex...how transmittable is it via this method? I do know to, of course, and plan on discussing with my partner both of our sexual histories and using condoms; I'm willing to do whatever it takes to remain safe and healthy and to keep my partner healthy.

Thanks for the help!!Xyxwave

Well the dangers of STI/STD transmision through oral for the giver comes from the chance of the semen of the receiver finding a way into the givers bloodstream. Through a cut, ulcer or bleeding gums in their mouth and throat.
And the danger for the receiver is the givers saliva entering their bloodstream through cuts ect on the penis.

At least, thats how i think it works.
I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject will be able to answer your question.

The only 100% safe sex is no sex. Since that's not really practical it's best to do whatever you can to minimize the risk. In my opinion anal sex carries the highest risk. Oral sex is lower risk but as previous post states it is still possible to transmit HIV through blood contact. Oral sex is probably higher risk for transmission of herpes.

Bottom line is to have good communication w your partner...get tested for Hiv and you may want to consider " The Patti Sanger Rule" "no sex before monogomy"
