La Femme: Psycho Tropical Berlin (album)
It's a very nice contemporary album, with a good old sound, but I don't understand French... :-(

When we think about performers who have been around for a long time, we think of The Rolling Stones, Springsteen, Cher, and many others.

I want to add a name to the list, I saw her perform on Saturday, and she still has it. France Joli.

France Joli got her start in the business at age 16, when she auditioned for a manager by singing along to a Barbara Streisand song. He signed her and took her to the studio. Soon, her first (and best known) single "Come To Me", was released. It was a #1 dance hit, and a #11 Billboard Hot 100 hit. Many say that her timing was off, as this single was released at the end of the disco craze (1979). While her other songs did not hit the pop charts, they all hit the upper regions of the dance charts.

For those who may not remember her (or weren't born at that time) here are some of her big disco hits.

*warning - above video contains footage of men in various stages of undress, in case anyone is looking from work* Wink

France Joli continued to record music in her native Canada, and continued to perform in clubs here in the US, specifically for her gay audience. In 1998, (almost 20 years after her prior hits) France Joli returned to the dance charts with two new songs. "Touch" and "Breakaway".

Saw miss France Joli on Saturday night during the "Bell Bottom Ball", a tour of disco acts, and she can still hold those notes, and yes, she sang live.
