Oh, thanks, EofE. I've never quite forgotten what a superb singer is Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie, but it is grand to be reminded. Although I had enjoyed most of her music, beginning with "Shout" it was only after I saw her perform live when I was twelve (she was one of the opening acts for The Monkees' first performance at Wembley) that I had a bit of a thing about her. I bought several of her singles when I was younger. I really loved her treatment of The Man Who Sold the World.
I never heard her name before...cool...I like it! I'm jealous! I had a bit of a thing for her too. I understand and remember that feeling...being 12 yeas old and being awed by a singer...mine was Linda Ronstadt who I snuck away to see in Golden Gate Park but I think I was 13 ...I was in love...(still am) I actually look to her for political endorsements when I am at a crossroads to this day LOL..I respect her immensely as an artist and a person. I still get chills when I hear this song and I have had the pleasure of seeing her and meeting her many times since now....
