I am not sure if you could get married in Canada, probably if you both lived there for a certain amount of time. The real problem would be that your marriage would not be validated in Ukraine and in many other countries around the world.
Your Internet boyfriend lives in Canada but is not a citizen? What nationality is he then?
I think I read an ad somewhere encouraging American citizens to come and marry in Canada. If Americans can, then why not other nationalities? But the problem above still remains. You'll be married in Canada, in Spain, in the Netherlands and other countries that recognise same sex marriage but you will be considered as two single men in your country and in others around the world...

My suggestion is that you get married in the EU. Canadians and other nationalities have a hard enough time as it is to immigrate. if your under 30 years of age your elligable for a working tourist visa in Canada as I am elligable for them in the EU.

There are also study permits that you can get by attending a college or university in a chosen country. Those are for as long as your course is. OR study period.

If I marry a some one from the Netherlands or I am dating him I can also extend my permit then stay for 6 years to immigrate as long as he signs a declaration that he is responnsible for my medical and financial needs Tongue

If you are trying to get Canadian Citizenship through the marriage, I doubt you will have any luck since your boyfriend is not a Canadian immigrant. One or both of you would have to gain a citizenship status first.

Citizenship is not a requirement for marriage in Canada, but that's no guarantee your marriage will mean anything legally outside of Canada.

Also, Canada is not like the US, you do not gain citizenship from marrying a Canadian citizen. You can be sponsored by your spouse, which let's you stay in the country, until you become eligible to apply for citizenship (which is like 3-4 years in Canada).

However, none of this matters if your boyfriend is not a Canadian citizen.

There are also provisions in Canadian immigration law that recognize same-sex couples for family reunification if they come from a country where same-sex marriages aren't legal. However, it's complicated and would usually involve showing that there was a long term relationship.

As a permanent resident, your boyfriend will eventually become eligible for citizenship, but who knows how long that will be for him.

Edit: My recommendation would be to contact a consulate or embassy in the Ukraine, or contact Citizenship and Immigration Canada for information.
