Hi mile: The name's Ian and I'm from New York (upstate, not as exciting as it sounds). I've been flipping through the forum for a while now, looking for forums for gays that aren't all porn-driven. For the most part everyone seems very warm and welcoming and nice. I'm pretty cool (I think) and I'm open to talk to anybody for the most part!

Not sure what I'm supposed to put on this...
Favorite movies are The Wall, Watership Down, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

I'm an actor, more for the artistry than the entertainment aspects. It is my heart and soul and I pour a lot of myself into it, ever trying to break into the creative state. I also write poetry, short stories, and plays, and conduct play readings.

Music-wise I am a huge fan of classic rock and progressive rock, especially Pink Floyd. I also have a lot of respect for contemporary artists, rap, and I actually think Lady Gaga is brilliant in a unique way. Lately I've been listening to Girl Talk.

And because of the nature of this site I may as well address the sexuality. I am gay, and out, and I am "single" but dating somebody. I live in a very conservative area and there's not a lot of freedom of expression here, so I've turned to fine and performing arts to find my own voice, both artistically and sexually. This site seems to be a great opportunity to meet awesome people, so please message me I'd love to meet people with new and interesting views.

Welcome to the site, I love your taste in films. I'm quite a big fan of the Watership Down film, a bit of an animation buff.

I love theater, but I can't act my way out of a paper bag. (trust me I've tried haha) Instead I study literature and write about plays instead. :p

Pip- what a relief there's another human being who has seen Watership Down. I'm usually the one to introduce friends to it... such a beautiful film. And hey- intellectualizing about plays and literature can be just as fun as producing them! Any favorites?

Lovelyraveboy- Glad to hear of another Floyd fan. Singer, huh? What style do you sing? I've taken a few voice lessons, enough to get through musical theatre.

I have loads of favourites lol.

I'm always up for anything by T. Williams, my favourites being Glass Menagerie and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Then some standard canonical figures: Pinter, Sartre, Beckett, Ibsen, Shaw, Wilde, Racine, Moliere, Shakespeare, and Jonson.

I enjoy some more contemporary stuff too, but I can't attest to be up on everything going on. I saw a production of Closer a few years back that I quite liked. I also have an unfortunate bias towards French and English language theater. I've read some of the canonical Roman and Greek plays in translation, but that's not much. I've been wanting to get into some of the major Spanish playwrights, but I always put it off. I also desperately want to read James Herne and Eugene O'Neill if I ever can get organized enough to manage it.

Edit: I just saw your profile picture, we're totally thinking along the same wavelengths lol.

We do seem to be on the same wavelengths...

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof may be my favorite play... though I've sadly never seen it live and the movie is just... well... a massacre of the original piece, while using some of the most beautiful actors in all existence (so sad when Liz Taylor died... ). I just saw a T Williams play on broadway in NYC, The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore, starring Olympia Dukkakis... probably one of the strangest plays I've ever seen, not what I'd expect from T Williams.

Did you study dramatic literature or is it simply a hobby?

Welcome Ian! Jealous you are close enough to experience some theatre. Writing is a bit of a hobby here as well (did study it but more communications/marketing/journalism writing then dramatic, but sometimes wish I'd done the other). And I too have seen Watership Down... I actually rented it due to it being referenced on Lost lol. Only have seen the movie of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof but have heard things 'changed', still some good acting though as you said. Anyway welcome and good luck with your creative endeavors and acting
