Lady Gaga is exploiting homosexuals
#1
So, it turns out that some of the gay (and straight too) population that I've seen online feel this way. Apparently, we're an easily exploitable market because we're insecure and discriminated against and so we'll latch on to anyone who decides to promote us/fight for us/shows us love/etc.

So I was wondering if you guys thought the same! Me? I just lol'd when I read that, really. And even if she is exploiting is, I appreciate that she's going so far as to exploit us since she does fight for gay rights.

Same with straight men who do gay porn. Same with straight actors playing gay roles and making millions and winning an Oscar.

She's a businesswoman, and she found a market.

Selling CDs, concert tickets and merchandise is hardly exploitation.

I don't think of it as exploiting at all. I think she genuinely connects with her gay audience and vice versa. Interestingly enough...this is the weekend of gay pride and it began due to a protest when Judy Garland died. She loved her gay audience and her gay audience loved her...so much so that they decided they weren't going to take the cops usual crap and they fought back.

...and then there was Liza Minelli...and Bette Midler...and Cher...and Diana Ross...and Madonna...and Barbra Streisand...and...today...there is Lady Gaga.

Is it terrible of me that I don't like any of those women as performers?

Especially Gaga. I don't understand gay mens' fascination with the absurd.

I don't think it is terrible...everyone has different tastes. What qualifies as absurd is subjective and I am sure for every gay man that likes the lady there is one that does not, I have never understood how anyone can possibly like Country Music or Corn Flakes

LOL.....I love that!

Anyway, Lady Gaga's job is to make money. And in order to make money she has to find a niche market. She found one. It's not exploiting. It's niche marketing. It's the best way to make money. Find a market and fill it's needs. She does that very well, I think. Confusedmile:

I assume people are still free to choose whether to buy her products or not?
